The Commitment: Joshua Rogers

Wow. I cannot believe the day was finally here. It seems like just yesterday I was standing on a pee-wee field next to my father trying to learn the basics of football while he watched.

My family has been very important in my life. Starting from those pee-wee days, my father has always been there for me. My mother, too. I want to thank both of them especially for making sure I developed into the man that I have become today.

My parents were very supportive of this decision. From the beginning, they realized that I had to do what was best for me, and that may not necessarily have been what they thought was best for themselves. When I got to high school, I realized that football may be a way that they will not have to pay for my education. I am so proud that I was able to do that for my parents, since they have done so much for me. I am so proud that my dad will be able to brag to his co-workers about my accomplishments. And most of all, I’m proud that my parents will cry tears of joy today. And I probably will too.

I want to thank Houston, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, and all of the other coaches and schools that gave me the opportunity to play football and further my studies at their university, but I finally had to narrow it down to one.

With that said, I have decided to commit to Texas A&M to further my academic and athletic career!

I felt that the opportunity that I had to play in College Station under Coach Turner and Coach Sumlin was one I could not pass up. Even before I started my senior season, this was a move I knew was inevitable. I have been feeling Texas A&M for a long time. The Aggie Network is tremendous, and I am so excited to help continue the Texas A&M legacy.

I also want to thank my teammates and coaches at Houston Christian. I could not have gotten this far without your continued support and belief in me. I know that I will make you all proud, and I only ask that you continue to follow me as I look to keep Houston Christian on the map!

Go Aggies!
